Scales used for commercial purposes are inspected at regular intervals by authorized institutions. A scale found non-compliant during inspection cannot be used for commercial weighing until the deficiencies are corrected and it is re-checked. An unprepared inspection can result in a loss of several days of shipments.
Pre-inspection checklist
- Are the platform underside and edge clearances clean? Are stones, mud or ice causing friction?
- Does the empty scale stay stable at zero?
- Are corner differences within tolerance? (Preliminary check with a test weight)
- Are the cable and junction box intact, and is the water seal in place?
- Do the indicator settings, capacity and division information match the label?
- Are the seals intact and previous inspection certificates ready?
- Is the path clear for the test vehicle and weights to reach the platform?
Why is the preliminary check important?
A preliminary check carried out a few days before inspection reveals in advance any conditions that require adjustment. This way, there are no surprises on inspection day, and you can keep your scale in service the same day.
If tracking inspection dates is a hassle, we can send you reminders and plan the preparation on your behalf under a maintenance contract.
